About Me
I began thinking about my career when I was around 10 years old. I wanted the financial freedom of most adults and the security of a stable job. Although what that looked like continued to shift, by the time I started college, accounting was a clear choice. Throughout college, I began discovering that financial security and freedom were not my priority anymore, being passionate about what I did became increasingly important. The problem was, I had no idea what I was passionate about. Slowly, I learned what I loved about TV was not just consuming it but the power of sharing lived experiences with an audience that otherwise would never understand an alternative perspective. I fell in love with the idea of being a part of powerful storytelling and that, to today, continues to propel my career.
Along the way, I spent 3 years working in financial audit at a professional services firm. My time there taught me the rules of professionalism that are often overlooked in academic institutions. The roles we should play in different rooms for optimal impact and success are tools we are required to pick up along the way and, in some cases, we pick them up too late. Luckily, I made a career switch and took my new understanding of professional environments and, with more confidence, applied steps to advance my career.
I’m still very early in my career and have plenty to learn. However, I’m lucky to have learned some initial good steps in both selecting a career and succeeding in new roles and felt like sharing those tips could be of value to others.
Hopefully you and I meet in a consultation and discuss what parts of my story you connect with and maybe even relate to.
